  • Bollywood's prolific actor Amitabh Bachchan gave the industry a series of super hits. However, after the release of Khuda Gawah in 1992, Bachchan went into semi-retirement for five years. Bachchan turned producer during his temporary retirement period, setting up Amitabh Bachchan Corporation, Ltd. (ABCL) in 1996. Bachchan attempted to revive his acting career and had average grade projects like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sooryavansham, Lal Baadshah and Hindustan Ki Kasam, which were box office failures. We then saw Big B make  a grand first appearance on Indian television with Kaun Banega Crorepati in the year 2000. Bachchan then signed projects like,  Yash Chopra's Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and there was no looking back!

Starting with Wanted,the movie which was directed by Prabhu Deva, became a box office success and earned superhit status. For Dabangg, which released in September 2010, Khan played the role of a fearless cop with comic effect in the film. It opened to a great positive response and broke several box-office records upon release.

In the later half of  2003, Hrithik appeared in 'Koi... Mil Gaya', which was India's first successful alien science fiction movie. The actor managed to pull off the zero to hero routine exceptionally well, in the movie. Hrithik, for his splendid performance, was later included in the 'Top 80 Iconic Performances' by Filmfare magazine, in its 2010 issue.

His last superhit film was the 2009 release Kaminey and after that a string of back to back flops like  Milenge Milenge, Mausam, Teri Meri Kahaani, and Phata Poster Nikla Hero, had harmed his career to a major extent. Besides, his films have rarely opened big in mass-dominated circuits.
    After giving a series of 16 flops in a row, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor finally delivered a hit with  R...Rajkumar, and says that the film's success has brought him a huge sigh of relief. Jr Bachchan has had only a couple of hits so far. Out of all the movies, only 'Bunty aur Babli' and 'Guru', in a period of 15 years, were the two films that achieved commerical success.
