Director- Rensil D’Silva
Cast- Sanjay Dutt, Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Kangana Ranaut, Angad Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam, Neha Dhupia

From the time I saw the trailer of Ungli, my curiosity was spiked by the theme of the film.
Corruption as a topic has been done to death in cinema and so I was eagerly waiting for this film to give a new take on it. To my dismay it never happened.
Ungli is about four friends from different backgrounds, Abhay (Randeep Hooda ), Maya (Kangana Ranaut), Goti (Neil Bhoopalam) and Kali (Angad Bedi) who form the Ungli gang that fights corruption in their own way. Although Emraan Hashmi plays a cop in the movie, he has more in common with the gang of rebels and so eventually joins them to clean up the city of corruption.
Enter Sanjay Dutt – the cop who tries to fight these rebels and get them arrested.
Director Rensil D'Silva doesn’t waste any time in establishing the plot of the movie.
Right from the first shot, there is absolutely nothing that hasn't been done before.
An old man running around the BMC office to get his pension – Check
A corrupt politician and  RTO official– Check
A good samaritan trying to save an old man from goons and ends up getting beaten up himself - Check
While the director tries to give a new twist to the existing problems you think there may be a novelty factor but you soon realise its the same old drama. As interesting as the trailer was the film falls flat on its face.
Apart from Randeep Hooda no one gets space to make an impact. While, Kangana Ranaut is wasted in the film, Neil Bhoopalam and Emraan Hashmi seem to be stuck doing the same kind of roles. Even Neha Dhupia who plays a reporter and Randeep's love interest, has more screen time than Kangana. Sanjay Dutt's role is very predictable in the film. He plays a catalyst in the entire formula, which sadly fizzles out. Angad Bedi blows hot and cold.
The cinematography is refreshing for a change, in a commercial entertainer.
Milap Zaveri has written the dialogues on auto pilot. Kudos to Sanjay and Emraan for spouting off the cheesy dialogues with a straight face.

All Ungli throws at us is the same old mish mash of how corruption should be dealt with. However its nothing unique. If you have absolutely nothing to do and bucks to blow go for it or else give it the Ungli.
