KKLH review: Sabkuch locha hai!

By Supriya Nair

Cast - Sunny Leone, Ram Kapoor, Evelyn Sharma and Navdeep Chhabra

Director - Devang Dholakia

Rating - 1/2

Before I start writing the review, I would just like to say, Sunny Leone went to Siddhivinayak to pray for this film.
But sadly bhagwan bhi iss film ko nahi bacha sake.

Ram Kapoor plays PP aka Pravin Patel, a married Gujarati man who is in love with a popular Bollywood actress, Shanaya played by Sunny Leone. The film begins with PP introducing himself to the audience, where he reveals that he was born and bought up in a small town in Ahmadabad but shifts to Kuala Lampur with his wife and son to start a business. (Like that's just a hop skip and a jump away from Gujarat right?) Keeping the stereotypes and cliches of the book in mind, his wife Kokila (Suchita Trivedi) is a typical Gujrati woman who (obviously) goes to the temple everyday and plays garba around the house in her free time. The Patel's set up a video store in the Malaysian capital with PP handling the business. His son, Jigar Patel (Navdeep Chhabra) is a wannabe rock-star who has his own band and is in love with the neighbours daughter Naina (Evelyn Sharma) who ensures that the audience is given their fare share of foreplay just before Sunny enters the screen.
So PP finds out that his favourite Bollywood actress is coming to his city and he might get a chance to get a date with her if he wins a contest. He finally manages to win a date with her but all hell breaks lose when she says that she wants to stay with a Gujarati family to 'prepare' for her role in a film. The rest of the plot (can I even call it a plot?) revolves around PP and his rendezvous with the love of his life.

Ram Kapoor looks like the human version of kungfu panda in the film and the irony of the opening shot showing him exercising just shows how much effort has gone into making this film. Right from his body language to his dialogues, he personifies the 'tharki uncle' to the T. While the makers have aimed at making him look like a cute and chubby guy who gets swayed, his character comes out as a philandering sleazeball.
Throughout the movie, PP and his friends have cheap double meaning conversations, to establish that they are all frustrated men trying to get laid. It just seems like the sex comedy, 'masti' has taken a 20 year leap with leching and perverted uncles in the lead. The film is filled with done to death sexual innuendos we've seen in almost every sex comedy till date. But wait, the makers forgot to add the comedy in this so called sex comedy. There's not a single moment of laughter in the entire movie.
Kuch Kuch Locha Hai is definitely the mother of all double standard films.
PP's wife calls her son 'jiglo' because that's the pet name for Jigar.
Navdeep Chhabra has beaten all the people who you thought couldn't act on screen. Himesh Reshammiya, Tusshar Kapoor and even Harman Baweja can be considered much better actors than him. His expressionless face will put a mannequin to shame.
Apart from playing eye-candy, Evelyn Sharma can't deliver a single dialogue without a smirk.
Sunny dreamed of entering Bollywood to become an actress, but that seems to have become a distant dream now as she is only portrayed as a sex object in all her films till date. Every song featuring Sunny has; Oodles of sleaze, ample cleavage show, booty-shaking, and a whole lot of seduction. The makers have remixed the classic 'Aao na' originally picturised on Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor and made it into a cheesy raunchy number. Another feature of Sunny Leone songs is that the actress gets drenched in every film of hers. When filmmakers think she can't do anymore in the scene, they get her wet! (No pun intended)

In one part of the film, Sunny goes on to tell viewers that being an actress is not an easy job when you know how the male population looks at you and know exactly what they're thinking. But while Sunny is happily dancing around trees in her barely-there clothes, we can't help but think, how she doesn't notice, filmmakers are doing exactly what the male population wants.

Our Verdict:

If life and time is precious to you then please do not waste it on this 'locha' of a film.
