Film: Yaariyan

Cast: Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet, Nicole Faria, Dev Sharma, Shreyas Pardiwalla, Serah Singh and Vikas Verma, Evelyn Sharma, Deepti Naval, Gulshan Grover

Director: Divya Khosla Kumar

Rating: ****
What's it about:
Yaariyan is a musical  set against the backdrop of a college campus. A story of five friends who fight racism in Australia and battle it out at a talent championship to save their college, Yaariyan's biggest asset is its chartbusting music. Divya Khosla makes sure she adds in lots of flavors and colors to cater to the taste of todays youth. Apart from the music and camaraderie between the friends, the film also touches serious topics like patriotism and mother-son relationship.

What's good:

The music is already a huge hit with ABCD and Sunny Sunny topping the charts. Divya has made sure these songs are picturised beautifully and do full justice to their melody.  Sameer Arya's cinematography is stunning, especially the romantic scenes of the second half which he has captured brilliantly. Himansh Kohli who plays the lead is promising and delivers all the scenes in the right vein. Among the girls Evelyn Sharma impresses the most.

What's not:
The film could have been edit better. Also the actors who play the Australian team don't match up to the expectation.

What to do:

A must watch for those who love the genre Yaarian is a musical treat for everyone.
