Rituparno Ghosh's demise shocks B-town

National Award winning filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh passed away, this morning at his Kolkata residence. Known for his critically acclaimed films, the director died of a massive heart attack. The 49-year-old filmmaker was reportedly suffering from pancreatitis.
After his debut as a filmmaker with 'Hirer Angti' in 1994, he won his first National Award for 'Unishe April' released in the same year. Rituparno went on further to direct 12 more National Award winning movies, including 'Choker Bali', 'Raincoat', his latest 'Abohoman' and 'Chitrangada'. The critically acclaimed filmmaker also received an award at the Berlin Film Festival for his 1999 movie, 'Bariwali'.
His demise came as a shock to several veteran actors and new-comers in Bollywood, who had worked with him or were dreaming for the same.
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar expressed his grief tweeting, "Deeply saddened and numbed to hear about the unfortunate demise of the very talented, Rituparno Ghosh. Had met him on several occasions in the past for a film called Rahgeer, unfortunately things didn't work out. Have some fond memories of him. My thoughts and prayers with him."
'Ishaqzaade' actress Parineeti tweeted, "Had the honour of meeting Rituporna Ghosh this year at the National Awards. Cannot believe how unpredictable life is. RIP sir."
Bipasha who had worked with Rituparno in 'Shob Charitro Kalponik' tweeted, "Landed in coimbatore n got heartbreaking news! Ritu da has passed away!Dont want to believe it! I have such wonderful memories with him!"   The actress further added, "Rip Ritu Da!It's not an age to go away!Death baffles me!It just makes you realize u can go anytime."
Ajay Devgn who acted in National Award winning movie 'Raincoat' tweeted, "Shockd & saddend 2 hear of rituparno ghosh. It was grt wrking wit him in Raincoat &his way of looking at things was so diffrent and unique."
