KJo backs The Lunchbox for Oscars!

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is presenting The Lunchbox under his banner, feels the film is a pertinent pick for India's entry at the Oscars.

KJo says, "As far as Oscars is concerned, it is not up to us. It's (the decision is) upon the FFI (Film Federation of India). We can only communicate. They (FFI) have a certain positioning, when they choose they look into potential world cinema films. We can only say that yes, this should be a frontrunner, and India should look at it in its selection very carefully."

The Lunchbox revolves around a romance between a senior government official and a bored housewife, spinning from a mistaken lunchbox. The film has received international acclaim at the Cannes Film festival 2013, winning the Critics Week Viewers Choice Award.

The film features Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and will release in India on September 20.
