How Vishal- Shekhar created Jhankaar Beats!

Vishal-Shekhar are a magical music directing duo in the Hindi film industry. Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani have been friends for years, before they were commissioned by Raj Kaushal, for recording a few songs for 'Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi'. The two did a couple of songs each and recorded the title track together. Vishal is the lead singer of the rock band 'Pentagram' and Shekhar is a trained classical singer. The duo then got an opportunity to compose music for Sujoy Ghosh's movie 'Jhankaar Beats'. The musicians who themselves enjoy the legendary Pancham Da's style, were asked to come up with tracks, which pay tribute to the music maestro Pancham Da. The movie had intelligently transplanted R D Burman's rhythms, orchestration and sound patterns into their original and very contemporary tunes.  Vishal- Shekhar created a tune, which was reminiscent of his music, and then got his musicians to play like they would for Pancham Da. Veteran singer Sudesh Bhosle took it further and did the rest. For their phenomenal output, the musical jodi received positive acclaim and a kick start in Bollywood. The duo's efforts paid off when they won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for 'Jhankaar Beats'.
