CBFC will no longer be about censorship!

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, organised a closed-door meeting with the Bollywood biggies that saw a gathering of actors, directors, producers and also veterans from the industry.
Listening to all the issues surrounding the censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, for creating a hostile environment in the fraternity, Mr. Rathore assured the members from the industry that Nihlani, wont be on the post for very long, as he is going to be replaced in the next few months. He also said that the censor was considering a plan to alter the name and identity of the Board.
Amongst the industy members, we spotted directors  Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Sudhir Mishra, Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar. From the producers team- Ekta Kapoor, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Mukesh Bhatt, Kiran Rao and Ritesh Sidhwani were seen in attendance. Actors like Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone were among those present at the meeting.
Sources say that, actress turned producer Anushka Sharma, was amongst the people, who raised her voice against the board. She also spoke about the difficulties her recently released movie NH10 faced from the Board's Revising Committee. The directors raised their voice against the government's unfortunate choice of Chairperson.
Rathore reportedly responded, saying that the board has addressed and reprimanded him for 'hijacking the board' and also warned him that he cannot have a business, in the Examining or the Revising Committee. He also assured them saying that, " If a scene is required in a film, I say you keep it. Don't take any cuts, I promise you won't face any problems in the future."
Gulzar, who is one among the most respectable people in Indian cinema, insisted, the film industry should be allowed to elect their own CBFC chief, instead of the Ministry appointing a candidate. Mr. Rathore was seen in agreement with the proposal and said that this can be a realistic possibility.
Rajyavardhan Rathore also said that the industry needs to be co-operative, as the things cannot change overnight; till then Board would be told to ignore the contentious 'cuss list', which was circulated in the previous month.
