What the film is about

Baahubali 2 begins at the point where the first left off. We see Amrendra Baahubali being his heroic self and how he falls in love with Devasena. The film then takes a turn to how he and Bhallaladeva deal with the politics of the crown.  And of course, we see the story continuing the saga from the first part and finally get to know WHY Kattappa shocked us all by killing Baahubali.

What we think

Epic. There is no other word that can describe this phenomena that has taken over all of us. When I went to see Baahubali 2, I knew it would either disappoint me completely or blow my mind like never before and the latter is just what happened. The producers and of course the captain of the ship, S.S. Rajamouli has taken this movie to the heights no one in India could imagine.

The first half talks about how Amrendra Baahubali won over everyone's hearts with his strength and bravery combined with compassion. Filled with drama, action, romance and humour, the film breaks as the surprising turn of events take place regarding the new king of Maheshmati. The second half then begins the real reason that all of us were waiting for and doesn't let you down with the grand battle scene.

Coming to the performances, we have the two pillars, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead. Both of them are just so right in their positive and negative characters that you feel these larger than life roles would have been written specifically for them. Rana's grey shades get darker by the scene and Prabhas effortlessly manages to go from the wishful lover in the first part to the avenging warrior in this one.

Supporting cast of Sathyaraj, Anusha Shetty and Ramya Krishnan holds the film together beautifully. Although there are scenes which may seem quite over dramatic for the Bollywood audience of today, but looking at the scale of the film, it cannot be noted as a flaw.

We have to talk about the vision of Rajamouli also here. Everything from the visuals to the action sequences to the crazy, fantasy romance song, will leave you in awe. The effects in the love scenes might seem a little cheesy, but the beauty of it can't go unappreciated. Rajamouli's frames which were so well defined and executed by the VFX team, that you are transmitted to another world itself.

Baahubali, both past and present, are nothing less than superheroes with the flawless body and reflexes. Even Bhallaladeva is perfect as the super villain especially in the climax scene which was shot with such finesse and precision that it can give a tough competition to the Hollywood classic magnum opus films life Ben Hur, Gladiator and Troy. Looking at the scenic world created around Maheshmati, a few touches also reminded me of our good ol' Game Of Thrones. And it feels so amazing to know that we also possess the caliber to give them a run for their money.

After waiting for a little less than two years and bearing through the many jokes, memes and trolls, we finally go to get the answer for 'Katappa Ne Baahubali Ko Kyun Mara'. But when you see the film, this legendary cliff-hanger is just one of the many, many things that makes this film epic. All I want to say is that, even with the HUGE burden of expectations that were attached to Baahubali 2, the sequel managed to go above and beyond it, which we all know is a difficult job to pull off.

Our verdict -

Most of you are going to watch this film and you absolutely should. There is no way anyone should miss out on this majestic drama. Treat it as a rite of passage for Indian cinema and make sure that you watch it the way it is supposed to be watched, on the big 70mm screen.
