Anurag Kashyap gets French honour

After actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, now it’s director-producer Anurag Kashyap’s turn. Kashyap will be bestowed with a French honour at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

To honour the Indian film industry, the French Minister of Culture, Ms Aurelie Filippetti will confer the award of ‘Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) on filmmaker Anurag Kashyap at a ceremony during the Cannes Film Festival on May 20.

Last year, Anurag received a standing ovation for his film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur,’ when it was screened at the director’s fortnight. Furthermore, the film was distributed commercially in France a few months back and was praised by the French public and press.

But, the difference this year is that four films have been selected of Kashyap. They are “Bombay Talkies,” “Monsoon Shootout,” “Lunchbox,” and “Ugly.”
