Amitabh Bhattacharya: Amit persuaded me to become a lyricist!

Partners in rhyme, Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya have given the Hindi film industry, a huge set of melodious and fun-filled tracks. A decade long friendship between the composer-singer and the lyricist, has resulted in great teamwork, which is very well seen in the movies like Dev.D, Wake Up Sid, Udaan, I Am, Aisha, Ghanchakkar and also Lootera.
The musical collaborators, from 'Aamir' to 'Lootera', have done phenomenal work which has been respected and appreciated, by all. Hence the duo seem to have lived up to the industry standard.
While interacting with a leading daily the two have shared memories of their initial days in the industry and also spoke about how Amit convinced Amitabh to become a lyricist and go with the flow.
"Nowadays I do so much writing, I don't have the time to practice my singing, hence sometimes I look back and wonder about my original dream," says Bhattacharya. "I was always reluctant when Amit asked me to write something, I kept on telling him that -tum mujhse singing kyun nahin karwate, bas likhwate rehte ho" he continued. However the scenario refused to change. Amitabh's writing went on and on for a good five years. No sooner did Amitabh became a polished lyricist than Amit persuaded Bhattacharya to write the lyrics for an independent album that he was composing.
Currently on the work front, Amit has been working on soundtracks for Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer 'Bombay Velvet' and also Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Shaandar'.
